How You Can Help

PRIVATE DONATIONS: The CWA is pursuing grants for the project, but also needs private donations to thrive. Money raised through private donations will go to pay: basic infrastructure costs such as Website development and maintenance; planning and production of the first induction ceremony; acquisition of literary artifacts for the traveling exhibit; and marketing. Small donations are vital to sustain the organization and ensure its mission will continue to move forward. Larger donations, of course, expand the Hall’s possibilities and speed up the process. Please use Paypal to make your donation, or send a check to: Chicago Writers Association, P.O. Box 6505, Evanston, IL 60204. CWA is a federally-registered 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are tax-deductible.

VOLUNTEERS: With the Hall in its infancy, there are many opportunities to help shape and build its future. We need many volunteers to lend their talents to help raise funds, stage and market events, create Web content, and generally contribute ideas to make the Hall of Fame better. If you’re interested in being part of the volunteer staff, please send an email to Don Evans at donaldgevans@hotmail.com, along with you’re a brief summary of your interests and expertise.

ARTISTIC PARTNERS: Once the six writers are selected for the initial induction ceremony, we’ll begin to assemble tributes for the traveling exhibit and 2010 ceremony. In particular, we’d like painters, sculptors and other artists to accept the task of producing original work. We’ll also need performers to take part in the ceremony. Please contact Don Evans at donaldgevans@hotmail.com with a brief summary of your background and your ideas for realizing these two goals.

BUSINESS PARTNERS: We need hosts to help us put on a series of fundraising events, such as silent auctions, workshops, readings, and dinners. If you own a business, such as a bookstore, restaurant or bar, that would like to host an event, please contact Don Evans at donaldgevans@hotmail.com.

SUGGESTIONS: We welcome all input about the Hall of Fame, including feedback on the Web site, the selection process, expansion of categories, and fundraising events. Send ideas to: info@chicagowrites.org
