M. M. M. Hayes

M. M. M. Hayes has been active in the Chicago literary community for over 30 years. Publisher and Editor of StoryQuarterly for 12 years, Hayes oversaw the annual SQ anthology, whose stories won many awards and inclusion in numerous Best of… anthologies. Hayes’s own fiction has been anthologized in Best New Stories from the South, Best of the West, Best American Mysteries, 2Plus2: An International Anthology and many national literary journals. Hayes has taught in the Chicago community college system and actively connected many StoryQuarterly and other writers with agents and publishers. Currently Senior Fiction Editor at StoryQuarterly, Hayes is also active in AWP events. Although she’s lived in the Middle East, Europe, New York and the American West, Hayes grew up in the Chicago area, still lives here and feels committed to the importance of the art produced in the American heartland.
